If Terrell Owens Was a Bear

Written by Joe Willett of Bleacherreport.com.

Terrell Owens has officially been traded to the Chicago Bears after Jerry Jones decided that he needed to cave to the media and shake things up a little bit.

Although the trading deadline is long gone, Roger Goodell, in an attempt to keep Tony Romo and Jason Witten from joining forces to murder clubhouse cancer, allowed the trade to go through.

However, angered with the situation at hand, TO has begun his anti-teammate antics earlier than ever before.

It began when Bears receiver Rashied Davis refused to give up the number 81 to Owens, who has always had that number.

"This is just him looking at what I did to all my other teams and pre-judging me," said an angered Owens in another interview with ESPN writer Stephen A. Smith.

Davis also commented on the situation.

"I don't care if they give him the [Stephon] Marbury treatment, I don't want him on this team," said an also angered Davis.

Owens then turned his frustration to the quarterback and, in a tactic he has never used before, decided he didn't want to catch passes from anybody on the Bears depth chart at quarterback.

"First off, [Kyle] Orton is just plain ugly. Look at that neck beard, just nasty. At least I had Jeff Garcia (Playboy Playmate wife), Tony Romo (Jessica Simpson girlfriend) and Donovan McNabb (I guess he just thinks McNabb is hot). How am I supposed to catch passes from such an ugly person. And look at the guys they have lower on the depth chart are even worse. Grossman looks like a cardboard cutout and who the f*** is Caleb Hanie," said Owens.

To recap Owens' illustrius career, he has enjoyed good times. He has gone to six Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl. He has also caught more touchdown passes than any other wide receiver not named Jerry Rice and holds the NFL record for catches in a game with 20.

There have also been bad times. After his time in San Fransisco, he called his insinuated that his ex-quarterback was a homosexual. Then he went to Philadelphia where he played for just one season. In that one season, he went to the Super Bowl despite playing injured in the NFC Championship game.

While with the Eagles, he made statements against Donovan McNabb, saying that the team would be undefeated if they had Brett Favre as the quarterback because Favre is a warrior, even though McNabb was playing with a sports hernia among other injuries.

When he went to Dallas, arch-rival to the Eagles, he was generally nice to the team. However, in 2006, there was a police-report saying that Owens had overdosed on a pain medication intentionally to try to commit suicide.

Then, throughout the past few weeks, Owens has been reportedly creating a divide amongst the players in the Cowboys locker room as he had been upset with Tony Romo's frequent passing to tight end Jason Witten, although Romo had thrown to Owens about 20 more times than he had thrown to Witten. This event led to his most recent trade to Chicago.

Despite all of the antics he brings, he still always finds a way to help the team win. In his first game against the Packers he had 143 receiving yards and three touchdown catches as the Bears won the game 42-10.

Said Owens after the game, "they unleashed me."

I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Aaron Rodgers: He Can't Possibly Beat Brett Favre Out for the No. 1 Job, Can He?

The Green Bay Packers had Aaron Rodgers taking all the snaps this offseason as the No. 1 QB, but now that future Hall of Famer Brett Favre has come back, the job looks to be Brett's to take.

As I look at it Brett Favre was the second best QB last season, behind Tom Brady, so why put in an unproven QB over a future Hall of Famer?

I am sure the Green Bay Packers will figure it out sooner than later that they should put Favre as the No. 1 QB, not trade, release, or put him as the backup.

I think if Favre does well the Packers look great, but if he fails they could be chanting Rodgers sooner than you think.

Maybe Aaron Rodgers isn't as bad as we all think. But he did drop in the first round all the way to 24 in 2005.

Maybe the Packers saw something in Rodgers that we didn't or they just drafted a guy to come in when Favre was to retire.

Jerome Bettis was asked about the Packers' situation and he said, "I understand Aaron Rodgers—it's a delicate situation for him. But if you let the competition decide who wins, no one can be upset about that. And Brett may not win, and if that happens you're in the best of all situations because Aaron has proved to you that he can go out there and get it done."

This whole fiasco with Favre was ridiculous and should of never happened and I am glad it is over. Now that can talk about better stuff on all the sports shows.

We will see how Brett Favre performs, but Aaron Rodgers should not assume anything.

Aaron Rodgers could get his chance soon.

Brett Favre Might Really Wind Up With an NFC North Team

All of us have heard the rumors about Brett Favre for the last two weeks or so.

But, today the Green Bay Packers offered Brett Favre $20 million for ten years to stay retired.

That is absurd, but I also heard rumors about the Packers trading within the NFC North.

The Bears and Vikings were teams considered.

The only other teams I have heard in the mix are the NY Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I would really be upset if he went to the Minnesota Vikings because that would give them a player who can perform better than Tavaris Jackson.

I watched Tavaris Jackson only once, in the game against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football last season, and he was very bad.

He threw three interceptions and had a 50 QB rating.

He is clearly not the answer.

So, I am sure Viking fans will have mixed feelings if Favre plays for Minnesota this season.

They have despised him for so long.

Now, to the Chicago Bears.

For a period of time I really believed it was possible for the Bears to get Favre, but now with everything I have been reading, the trade is highly unlikely.

Peter King of Sports Illustrated said Chicago is one of Favre's preferred destinations.

But, Brian Urlacher appeared on Dan Patrick show this morning and when he was asked whether he could see Favre playing for a couple of NFC North rivals, he made it clear what he thought.

Brian Urlacher said: "Ooohh, no. I don't see how that would be possible. No way."

Dan Patrick asked why and Urlacher said: "Why? ... First of all, we're in the division. Ummm, we got two good quarterbacks as it is. ... I just don't see how that would be a possibility."

Brian Urlacher then said: "I could see him in a Viking uniform, though. I guess they're going after him pretty hard. OK, well, if they got him, they'd be, uh, they'd be tough. The way they run the ball and with him ... they'd be real, real tough."

Urlacher later said he could see the Minnesota Vikings being a Super Bowl contender with Favre at quarterback.

"Yes, I would definitely think so. I mean, their defense is good. They have a great running game. I mean, nothing against Tarvaris Jackson, but they really haven't thrown the ball that great, you know, the last couple of years. So if you put him in there, it automatically upgrades their passing game right there."

The Chicago Bears two quarterbacks had something to say about the possibility of Favre being in Chicago.

"It's hard to escape because you hear [Brett] Favre this, Favre that," Rex Grossman said. "I try not to pay attention because I don't really care. ... Ever since I got pulled last year, I've tried to worry about everything I can control and nothing else."

"I haven't paid attention to it one bit because I have enough to worry about," Kyle Orton said.

Ron Turner said, "I haven't said a word about it. I hope they have enough sense to know there's nothing to it. I heard that story and just laughed, wondered where these things come from. And I'm sure Rex and Kyle have the same reaction."

So, the Chicago Bears are out of consideration.

That leaves Minnesota Vikings, NY Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Green Bay Packers as teams he could be with next season.

The NY Jets have a QB battle right now and I know they would love to bring him in, but NY is a big city, and he has not played in such a place before.

The problem with the Buccaneers getting Favre is Jeff Garcia and the four other quarterbacks on the roster in Tampa Bay.

Jon Gruden coached Brett Favre in Green Bay years ago and it would be a good fit for him, but this won't happen.

The Vikings appear to be the top dogs in this Favre dilemma, because of their lack of depth at quarterback position. They already communicated with Brett.

Then, the Packers, he could end up there as a backup quarterback, but that would be awkward for everyone.

My prediction is the Minnesota Vikings.

So, Vikings fans should get excited.

Also, a thought for everyone in Green Bay, if Aaron Rodgers leads the Packers to the playoffs, than Brett Favre will quickly be forgotten.

Brett Favre: Would He Ever Sign With The Bears?

I was thinking about the possibility of future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre playing for the Green Bay Packers' biggest rival, and it is was quite scary.

I was sort of sick of all the stories about him coming back, but now I would like to see this happen.

If he were to be released from the Packers and sign with the Bears, the Packer fans who love Brett Favre, would hate his guts forever.

It would be very crazy if this were to happen, but the teams that would actually take Brett Favre would be the Bucs, Ravens, Dolphins, Jets, Vikings, and Bears.

I never really liked Brett Favre, but maybe I will learn to like him if he does join Bears Nation in Chicago.

Yes, he has 442 TD's, over 60,000 passing yards, nine Pro-Bowl selections, but he is 38 years old and he has contemplated retirement for about five years now.

It has been reported that he worked out at a high school in his hometown in Mississippi and he says he is ready to go for this season. He defiantly shows his dedication for the game of football.

The GM of Green Bay Packers Ted Thompson said, if Brett comes back he will be the backup to first round pick Aaron Rodgers.

Over 56,000 people voted on a poll on Yahoo Sports that asked: Where will Brett Favre play in 2008?
The votes and choices looked like this:

Chicago
26%
Green Bay
9%
Minnesota
22%
Other
43%

If Brett Favre does wind up in the Windy City, he will be in a battle with Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton who both want the starting quarterback job.

It will be an interesting story with all this Brett Favre news and I would love to see him in a Bears uniform.

Did You Know: 7/8/08

Did You Know: Jim McMahon former Chicago Bears QB.

Chicago Bears fans remember that QB Jim McMahon helped the Bears win Super Bowl XX, but what they don't remember is he won a Super Bowl with the Packers.

Yes, he played for the Bears enemy and in 1996 he played backup to Brett Favre.

He was booed at the beginning of his two years with the Pack, later he was called McBackup to Brett Favre.

The funny part of this story is that the Bears never went to the White House in Washington because of the death of the astronauts on the challenger. So, when the Packers won the Super Bowl in 1996, McMahon wore a Chicago Bears jersey

Many Green Bay Packer fans grew very furious, but then he explained how he never had the chance to go when he was on the Bears.

He is the best Bears QB since Sid Luckman, but he bounced around the league after his departure from the Bears. He later played for the Vikings, Chargers, and Cardinals.

Just a fun fact to know about a former Bears player.
